Matthew McConaughey is dispelling rumors that he underwent a hair transplant more than two decades after nearly going bald.
In his memoir, Greenlights, the 52-year-old actor disclosed that he shaved off all of his hair after experiencing significant hair loss in the late 1990s.
The Texas native cut off his hair in hopes of more abundant regrowth after being told that chopping it off and starting over was the best option.
The actor claims to have been applying the same topical cream for more than 20 years.
More than 20 years after nearly losing all of his hair, Matthew McConaughey is overjoyed to have a full head of hair. However, he is not pleased that other people are trying to claim credit for the accomplishment.
McConaughey, 52, describes buzzing off all of his hair in his autobiography Greenlights after beginning to experience substantial hair loss in the 1990s.
McConaughey started massaging a topical cream into his scalp “once a day for 10 minutes” after shaving his head in an effort to develop new hair.
He remarked, “I was totally dedicated to it.” “No nothing, no Propecia. Just manual labor was involved.“
Although he is delighted with the outcome, McConaughey is just as shocked as everyone that he now has such thick hair.
All I can say is that it returned, he said. Compared to 1999, I now have more hair.
McConaughey continued, “I still rub it down with the same item I was rubbing it down with, today. “I’m not going to stop in order to see whether, like, ‘Oh, do I need to do it anymore?’ I’m not willing to risk it.
After McConaughey’s experiment with hair regeneration was successful, he had to deal with rumors that he got a transplant. Later on, the actor learned that a doctor had been claiming credit for his alleged hair transplant.
The actor revealed how he met a Beverly Hills physician who informed him that his name was spoken every year at a meeting for hair transplants around the world. The doctor there allegedly gave McConaughey hair plugs.
“Can I look at your hair?” the Beverly Hills doctor asked, the patient recalled. “Can I see and feel it?“I retorted, “Yeah, man.” You don’t have transplants“, he says. ‘That’s what I said; of course, I don’t,’ I retorted. He says, “Next year when he raises his hand, I can’t wait to smash this guy’s nut.“
The surgeon in question, according to McConaughey, is “busted, man!“
